چکیده

In 1911 Beijerinck, a Dutch microbiologist working in Delft, isolated and described the organism which is now recognised as Acinetobacter (Dijkshoorn L, Nemec A, 2008). Brison and Prevot proposed the generic designation, Acinetobacter in 1954. In 1971, the Subcommittee on Taxonomy of Moraxella & allied Bacteria suggested that the genus Acinetobacter shall include only oxidase negative bacteria, non-motile, nonfermenting, gram negative cocco-bacilli. DNA homology has led to recognition of at least 25 genomospecies by various workers. To date only 10 are named.

Identification of different species of Acinetobacter Strains, and determination of their antibiotic resistance pattern and MIC of Carbapenems by E-Test

Introduction: The Gram-negative emerged an important nosocomial pathogen, especially in intensive care units. These bacteria are cause of health infections, specifically in intensive care units (ICUs). Recent reports present an increase in acinetobacters resistance to carbapenems. This study set out to determine the antibiotic resistance pattern and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of car...

Distribution and antibiogram pattern of Acinetobacter infections in Shahid Mohammadi Hospital, Bandar Abbas, Iran

Introduction: Acinetobacter species are important opportunistic pathogens, widely spread in hospitals' environment and responsible for different health care associated infections. Because of its ability to rapidly develop resistance to the major groups of antibiotics, treatment of Acinetobacter infections is difficult and antibiotic susceptibility tests can help in choosing the best antibiotics...

بررسی ژن‌های بتالاکتاماز ((blaTEM , blaCTX مقاوم به دارو و گلوتارالدئید در ایزوله‌های Acinetobacter baumannii

Abstract Background: Excessive consumption of antimicrobial materials in hospitals and the community is as the main encoder, led to the emergence, development and acquisition of new bacterial resistance to antimicrobials. According to the lack of enough information about the mechanisms of the resistant genes to disinfectants and receiving no report from the country and considering the resistanc...

Bacterial identification, clinical significance, and antimicrobial susceptibilities of Acinetobacter ursingii and Acinetobacter schindleri, two frequently misidentified opportunistic pathogens.

The species belonging to the Acinetobacter genus are currently reported as opportunistic pathogens in hospitalized patients with underlying predispositions. However, except for the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-Acinetobacter baumannii complex, the identification of other species is frequently unreliable, especially for Acinetobacter ursingii and Acinetobacter schindleri, newly described in 2001. ...
